Eid ul Adha 2024: Cow Mandi Rates in Karachi Drop Significantly

As the festive season of Eid-ul-Adha 2024 draws near, the cattle market at Northern Bypass in Karachi is buzzing with increased activity. Shoppers have observed a price drop in sacrificial animals, now costing roughly five percent less than the initial rates.

Reports indicate that the market, situated at Taiser Town Northern Bypass, has been in operation since May 10, 2024, and has already seen the sale of over 80,000 animals. The market’s size and diversity have left a lasting impression on its visitors, including a tourist family from Poland.

In a bid to ensure a smooth shopping experience, authorities have committed to providing a range of facilities for buyers and traders. These comprise food courts, ATMs, and specific parking zones. To ensure safety, police pickets are being set up as part of enhanced security measures.

The previous year’s Eid-ul-Azha season saw the Karachi Northern Bypass cattle market doing a roaring business, generating a whopping Rs8 billion. The market, which was earlier located in the Sohrab Goth area, has now been shifted to the northern bypass in District West. In 2023, the market had approximately 700,000 sacrificial animals, with 600,000 of them finding buyers, setting a new sales record.
