The government announced the petrol price in Pakistan hike by Rs 4. Decision is effective from 1 October. Decision has taken due to the increase in the price of petroleum in the international market.
The notification said that OGRA has worked on higher prices of petroleum but the Prime Minister has decided against the recommendation and has increased the prices of consumers to a minimum.
He added that the government has absorbed international price pressures through cuts in petroleum levies and sales taxes.
The notification claims that it is noteworthy that petrol price in Pakistan are the cheapest in the region.
An OGRA representative informed earlier that the prices of petroleum products would be announced by the government soon.
Petrol went up by Rs 4 to Rs 127.30 per liter while high speed diesel went up by Rs 2 to Rs 122.04 per liter.
