In a heartfelt display of unity and reverence, Muslims across Pakistan are currently observing the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the revered grandson of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and the brave martyrs of the tragic events in Karbala. This poignant occasion marked with mourning processions taking place in cities nationwide, including Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar. Stringent security measures have implemented to ensure the safety and peaceful observance of this significant event, reflecting the profound religious significance it holds.
Chehlum, also known as Arba’een, commemorates the 40th day following the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein and his 72 companions in the historic battle of Karbala, where they valiantly faced the Yazidi forces.
In Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, the central mourning procession set to begin from Nishter Park, culminating at the Hussainia Iranian Imambargah Kharadar. Numerous smaller processions from different parts of the city will converge with this central procession, creating a poignant display of communal solidarity.

To ensure the security of the central procession route, authorities have temporarily blocked roads with containers. A significant deployment of police, Rangers, and other security personnel is in place to maintain order and safeguard participants, underscoring the commitment to a peaceful and secure environment.
Similar security precautions have taken in Lahore, where the annual Urs of Hazrat Data Gunj Bakhsh also observed. In recognition of these commemorations, all private and public schools in Lahore and Karachi closed for the day. Furthermore, mourning processions scheduled to take place in other cities across the country, including Jacobabad, Multan, Sargodha, Peshawar, Quetta, and more.
