Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi Rejects Metrobus Fare Hike, Prioritizing Citizens’ Welfare

Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, during a recent meeting of the Punjab Mass Transit Authority, made a significant announcement by rejecting a proposal to increase fares for Metrobus and Speedobus services by Rs 15. This decision underlines his commitment to the welfare of the citizens.

In an effort to reduce environmental impact, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi gave the green light for a groundbreaking initiative supported by the World Bank. Lahore Railway Station and Tagrin Town will soon witness the operation of 27 electric buses as part of a pilot project. The project aims to assess the feasibility of expanding electric bus services to Islamabad and Rawalpindi, paving the way for cleaner and more sustainable transportation options.

Taking into consideration the importance of efficient transportation networks, Chief Minister Naqvi directed the construction and repair of metro bus tracks in both Rawalpindi and Lahore. Furthermore, plans for the renovation of iconic landmarks like Gaddafi Stadium and Shahadara Railway Station were approved. These efforts reflect the government’s commitment to enhancing the infrastructure for the benefit of the public.

During the Punjab Mass Transit Authority meeting, a proposal to introduce diesel hybrid regenerative buses was thoroughly reviewed, signaling the government’s intent to explore innovative and environmentally friendly options for public transportation.

Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi also emphasized the urgency of implementing the electric bus service and approved measures to tackle the shortage of human resources within the Punjab Mass Transit Authority.
