In a significant development, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to revolutionize the fisheries sector in Gwadar, aligning it with contemporary standards. The endeavor involves imparting advanced training to fishermen, equipping them with state-of-the-art machinery, and modernizing their boats with cutting-edge engines and navigation systems.
During a constructive meeting with a delegation from the Gwadar Shipping and Clearing Agents Association, Prime Minister Kakar expressed the government’s determination to fully tap into the export potential of Gwadar’s fisheries. The delegation, led by Association President Abdur Raheem Zafar, Secretary General Hameed Baloch, and Faisal Dashti, presented their concerns and proposals.
In response to the delegation’s request to initiate the import of a designated portion of government cargos through the Gwadar Port prior to its full operationalization, Premier Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar directed the concerned authorities to compile a comprehensive report on the matter.
Referring to Gwadar as a forthcoming hub of maritime commerce, the prime minister highlighted ongoing government initiatives aimed at establishing industries within the port and developing robust communication infrastructure to connect industrial zones. Premier Kakar emphasized that creating employment opportunities and providing facilities of international standards to the residents of Gwadar were imperative for the port’s progress.
The delegation briefed the prime minister on the challenges faced by shipping clearing agents and the fisheries sector, seeking solutions for sustainable growth.
