Hajj Applications Opens: Here’s What You Need to Know

In a recent development, the government has officially kicked off the process of collecting applications for the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has streamlined the application submission through the services of 15 designated banks across the country.

This initiative aims to facilitate the Hajj process for Pakistani citizens, and applicants encouraged to utilize the designated banks for a smooth application process.

Key Points to Note:

1. Application Submission Period: The Ministry of Religious Affairs has set the deadline for submitting Hajj applications until December 12. Prospective pilgrims urged to initiate the process promptly.
2. Projected Participation: The government anticipates a significant turnout, with 89,605 Pakistani pilgrims. It is expected to perform Hajj in the coming year through the government scheme.
3. Historic Inclusion of Women: For the first time, women will have the opportunity to undertake the Hajj pilgrimage without the presence of a male guardian (mahram).
4. Lottery System for Oversubscription: In the event that the number of applications surpasses the allocated quota, a fair lottery system will implemented to ensure a transparent selection process.
5. Sponsorship Scheme: A sponsorship scheme has introduced with a quota of 25,000, allowing overseas Pakistanis to contribute to the Hajj process by submitting applications along with the required dollars.
6. Exemption for Sponsored Applicants: Those applying under the sponsorship scheme, as well as their close relatives, will be exempt from the lottery system, streamlining the application process.
7. Application Validity: To streamline the process, Hajj applications will accept until December 2024, provided they submitted with valid and recognized identification cards.
