Lahore Police Intensifies Crackdown on Underage Driving, Registers Over 4,000 Cases

In an effort to enhance road safety and curb underage driving, Lahore Traffic Police has launched a rigorous crackdown on young drivers operating vehicles without a license. The recent enforcement drive has resulted in the registration of a staggering 4,054 cases of underage driving and 2,646 cases of driving without a valid license.

Lahore City Traffic Officer (CTO), Mastansar Feroz, has spearheaded the initiative to safeguard lives and reduce road accidents, particularly among young drivers. Over the course of just 11 days, the police have taken stringent action, impounding vehicles and registering cases at various police stations across the city.

The crackdown specifically targets drivers under the legal age and those operating vehicles without the necessary licensing. In a span of six days, 2,646 cases filed against individuals driving without a license, comprising 1,080 cases for lacking a license card and 1,566 cases for riding motorcycles without proper documentation.

To reinforce the message, the CTO has established 190 special check posts, strategically positioned, especially in affluent areas of the city. Residents strongly urged to ensure they possess valid driving licenses. With 30 license offices, 10 mobile vans, and all service centers operating around the clock, the process of obtaining or renewing licenses has made accessible.

Emphasizing parental responsibility, Mastansar Feroz urged parents not to allow their children under the age of 18 to drive any vehicles. The police will take strict actions against those providing vehicles to underage drivers.

Additionally, Feroz highlighted the potential consequences of developing a criminal record, citing challenges in securing government employment and obtaining visas. Parents urged to be vigilant and actively discourage their underage children from driving, reinforcing the importance of responsible behavior on the roads.
