As temperatures drop across Pakistan, provincial governments are gearing up to declare winter breaks for schools. Contrary to earlier speculations of premature holidays due to smog, official sources have debunked such claims.
Recent reports had suggested the anticipation of early winter vacations in response to heightened smog levels. However, no official statement has validated these assertions. Notably, last week, both government and private schools in parts of Punjab observed a three-day weekend. Despite concerns over air pollution, educational activities resumed on Monday.
Reliable sources reveal that the government has opted not to extend the usual winter vacation period. Instead, schools and educational institutions are expected to close from late December to early January.
Traditionally, schools in Punjab and other regions have observed winter breaks from December 24th to January 9th. It appears that this pattern will persist this year as well. The official announcement of winter vacation holidays is anticipated in the coming days, with the School Education Department (SED) set to release the notification.
