In a recent announcement, the Pakistan Railways has implemented a 5% increase in freight train fares, effective from December 1, as outlined in a notification released on Wednesday.
According to the notification, this fare adjustment will be uniformly applied to all freight categories, with the total fares rounded off in accordance with previous practices. Notably, the revised rates will not be applicable to Cargo Express 501-UP/502-DN and 503-UP/504-DN.

The Chief Marketing Manager of Pakistan Railways stated, “All freight rates will witness a 5% increase across the board, commencing from 01-12-2023 at 12:00 AM. The total freight charges will be rounded off using the established practices. It’s important to mention that this increase will NOT be applicable on Cargo Express.”
This recent fare adjustment follows a similar move made in September 2023 when Pakistan Railways increased fares for all passenger trains in response to the escalating prices of petroleum products.
This development aims to streamline the freight tariff structure and ensure the continued efficiency of Pakistan Railways’ services.
