In a progressive move, Kuwait is gearing up to introduce a Family Visa option early next year, marking a significant development in the country’s immigration landscape. The Ministry of Interior is actively considering plans for the launch of the Article 22 visa, specifically designed for family or dependents of certain expatriate categories.
Under this new initiative, eligibility will be extended to professionals such as doctors, university professors, applied education professors, and counselors. While the detailed criteria are yet to be disclosed, the Ministry is set to establish a committee that will define the conditions for expatriate groups permitted to bring their families.
This strategic step aligns with the demographic vision spearheaded by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, aiming to enhance the overall social fabric of the country.
Additionally, as part of a broader Gulf cooperation effort, details have emerged regarding a unified Gulf visa mechanism applicable to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Notably, the regulations will include a daily fine of KD100 for individuals overstaying their visas. Further, the mandatory requirements encompass health insurance coverage and a hotel reservation throughout the stay.
As Kuwait opens its doors to a more inclusive immigration policy, the upcoming Family Visa option is poised to be a catalyst for attracting and retaining skilled professionals, fostering a diverse and thriving community within the nation.
