In a bid to preserve Karachi’s rich historical legacy, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced significant steps to maintain the authenticity of the city’s iconic buildings. During a visit to the historical landmarks of Khaliq Dina Hall and Denso Hall on M.A Jinnah Road, the Mayor disclosed plans to establish the Karachi Museum within the premises of Denso Hall Library.
The Mayor revealed that the KMC council had already approved a resolution for the establishment of a museum in Denso Hall. This museum aims to house rare artifacts, maps, and photographs showcasing the history, civilization, and culture of Karachi. The initiative aims to provide a valuable resource for historical researchers, students, and citizens eager to explore the roots of their city.
While acknowledging previous efforts to clear encroachments around Denso Hall, Barrister Murtaza Wahab pledged additional measures to enhance the beauty and accessibility of the area. Notably, he took immediate action against the installation of iron security doors in Khaliq Dina Hall, reinforcing the principle that no alterations should made to the design of historical buildings.
Khaliq Dina Hall, with its historical significance as the site where Maulana Mohammed Ali Johar and his comrades tried during the British period, holds a special place in Karachi’s history. Wahab expressed the commitment to preserve such landmarks for future generations and announced prioritized repair work for the restoration of these architectural gems.
Assuring collaboration with relevant institutions, the Mayor affirmed that all historically significant places in Karachi would undergo improvement initiatives. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) set to fulfill its responsibilities in enhancing the functionality of the library and collectively working towards the betterment of these historical sites.
