Karachi, Pakistan has taken a leap forward in its public transportation infrastructure with the introduction of the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. Launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan in early 2022, this state-of-the-art mass transit system covers a distance of 21 km and boasts 22 stations, promising to revolutionize daily commuting in the bustling city.
The Green Line Bus starts its journey at Numaish Chowrangi and concludes at Surjani Town, traversing a total of 21 km through the heart of Karachi. With 22 strategically located stations along the route, including key points like 4K Chowrangi, North Karachi, and Guru Mandir, the Green Line ensures convenient accessibility for commuters.
The Green Line BRT features 80 diesel hybrid buses, each with a seating capacity of 150 passengers. These buses are equipped with modern amenities such as security cameras, charging ports, and accessibility features for disabled passengers, ensuring a comfortable and inclusive commuting experience.
To meet the needs of the city’s diverse population, the Green Line buses operate from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm every day of the week. With buses arriving at stations every 10 minutes, the system aims to facilitate approximately 135,000 passengers daily, making it a reliable choice for daily commuters.
Karachi Green Line Bus Ticket Prices:
The Green Line Bus in Karachi offers an affordable fare structure, with a minimum fare of PKR 15 and a maximum fare of PKR 55 for a single trip. Regardless of the distance traveled along the route, the fixed ticket price makes it a cost-effective option for all passengers.
For frequent commuters seeking to save more on travel expenses, the Green Line Metrobus card is available for just PKR 100. This card allows users to recharge as needed, reducing the cost of traveling to just PKR 5 per station, including the base fare of PKR 15.
To enhance the overall commuting experience, the Sindh Government, in collaboration with SIDCL and the Ministry of Planning and Development, introduced the Breeze Mobile App. This app, available for free download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, provides features like bus tracking, account recharging, and the purchase of metro cards and tickets for both the Green Line and Orange Line services.
