In a recent development, the Sindh High Court (SHC) made a decisive decision on Tuesday, rejecting a plea to suspend the National Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2023 over alleged ‘paper leak’ concerns.
The controversy surrounding the retest of the National Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) escalated when the question paper surfaced on social media platforms. Concerned students swiftly approached the Sindh High Court to address the matter.
Expressing frustration, the students argued that this marks the second occurrence of a leaked MDCAT paper, with no one being held accountable for the misconduct.
During the hearing, the Sindh advocate general informed the SHC bench, headed by the Chief Justice, that it was not the actual paper but a guess paper that had been leaked online.
In response, the petitioners’ lawyer emphasized the need for admissions in medical and dental colleges to be based on merit, considering the leaked nature of the paper.
After thorough arguments from both sides, the court dismissed the plea, assuring that a detailed verdict would be issued later.
Earlier, Health Minister Saad Khalid validated the findings of an investigation committee, confirming the undeniable leak of the MDCAT 2023 paper. The minister went on to recommend transferring the inquiry oversight to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
