In a groundbreaking move, Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced plans for a second round of artificial rain to combat the persistent issue of smog in Lahore. The chief minister expressed gratitude for the collaboration with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and specifically lauded the efforts of the Cloud Seeding Team led by Ahmad Al Kamal during a recent meeting.
Acknowledging the significance of the UAE’s commitment to fighting smog, CM Naqvi praised the Cloud Seeding Team for their noteworthy efforts in the successful execution of the first artificial rainfall experiment in Lahore. This initiative led to a substantial improvement in air quality, maintaining levels consistently below 200 for several consecutive days.
During the meeting, Chief Pilot Michael Anstis and Pilot Colonel Aubeed were also present, highlighting the importance of the collaborative efforts between Punjab and the UAE in environmental conservation.
“The pioneering effort marks the first successful experiment of artificial rainfall in Lahore, resulting in air quality levels consistently below 200 for several days,” said the CM, expressing optimism for the upcoming experiment in January, dependent on favorable weather conditions.
The collaboration between Punjab and the UAE’s Cloud Seeding Team considered historic, with experts viewing the UAE team as an integral part of Pakistan’s environmental initiatives. CM Naqvi conveyed his appreciation to the people of Pakistan for recognizing the UAE pilots’ crucial role in this environmental venture.
In a reciprocal gesture, the UAE delegation expressed their deep affection for Pakistan, emphasizing the enduring bond between the two nations. The collaborative efforts anticipated to make a significant contribution to alleviating the impact of smog in the region.
