A spokesperson from the City Traffic Police (CTP) revealed that 163 traffic wardens and officers have strategically stationed at key locations in Murree to regulate traffic flow and assist tourists. The city’s traffic plan for the snowfall season includes a ban on the entry of heavy vehicles, along with the introduction of an emergency helpline (051-9269200) exclusively for tourists’ assistance.

To address citizens’ concerns, the Help Line operates round the clock, functioning as a control room providing essential services and addressing potential issues promptly. The CTP spokesman highlighted the reserved parking spaces and road closures on main thoroughfares like Kashmir Point, Mall Road, and Guldana Road for streamlined traffic.

Recognizing the allure of Murree during snowfall, the spokesperson acknowledged the challenges arising from the influx of tourists, emphasizing the importance of cooperation to prevent traffic congestion, especially on slippery roads. Two traffic control rooms have established at Jinnah Hall Murree and Suni Bank Traffic Choki to cater to tourists’ needs.

On the administrative front, Murree district has established 13 centers at various locations to facilitate tourists, guided by the Commissioner Rawalpindi Division’s directives. The district administration aims to address the prevalent issue of traffic jams, highlighting the crucial role of police and traffic wardens. Special attention has given to communication with the public through 24/7 helplines, digital counting at toll plazas, and CCTV cameras installed across main roads for real-time traffic monitoring.

In anticipation of snowfall, Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi announced heightened preparedness across all departments. The Traffic Police Murree has even secured FM 88.6 frequency and is in the process of launching a dedicated website to keep tourists informed about weather conditions, traffic updates, and essential information before they visited Murree.

With warning boards, information displays, and up-to-date status reports strategically placed within the city, Murree geared up to provide a seamless and enjoyable experience for tourists during the snowfall season.
