In a groundbreaking move, the government is set to make smartphones more accessible to the masses in Pakistan. According to reliable sources within the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, a new initiative is underway to provide smartphones at affordable rates and through easy installment plans.
This strategic step aims to equip every cellular phone user in Pakistan with a smart device, fostering economic growth and encouraging widespread adoption of e-commerce. The government plans to offer smartphones with a price range between 20,000 to one lakh rupees, ensuring a variety of options to cater to different segments of the population.
To make these smartphones even more accessible, customers will have the option to make a modest advance payment of twenty to thirty percent. This initiative not only aims to bridge the digital divide but also anticipates a shift in technology usage. As per the government’s stipulated deadline, the traditional mobile push-button and simple phones, characteristic of G2 technology, will cease to function once the distribution of smartphones commences.
With approximately 190 million cellular phone users in the country, this move is expected to impact 48% of users still relying on G2 technology. The transition to smartphones is poised to revolutionize communication and pave the way for increased participation in the digital economy, benefitting both individuals and businesses across Pakistan.
