In a recent announcement, the US embassy in Pakistan has unveiled plans to launch a convenient online fee payment facility for US citizens residing in the country. This move aims to streamline the passport application process and enhance accessibility for a range of requests.
Starting January 17, 2024, U.S. citizens in Pakistan can benefit from the online payment system for various passport-related requests, including:
- First-time U.S. Passport applications
- Applications for children under the age of 16
- Renewals for passports issued when the applicant was under 16
- Replacements for lost, stolen, or damaged passports
- Renewals for passports issued over 15 years ago
The official press release assures applicants that the new online payment system will be accessible through the DS-11 Passport application page once implemented.
The embassy encourages individuals to stay informed about the latest updates and eligibility criteria by visiting the Passport Services section on the U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Pakistan website. A subsequent announcement will be made to notify applicants when the online payment option becomes fully operational.
For those eligible to apply using the DS-82 (Adult Renewal) option, the embassy confirms that the existing ‘pay.gov’ payment option remains available for their convenience.
This progressive step by the US embassy in Pakistan reflects a commitment to modernizing and simplifying administrative processes, making passport services more efficient and accessible for U.S. citizens in the region.
