The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad is gearing up for a significant development as it finally greenlights the construction of two state-of-the-art electric bus depots. This decision comes after a slight delay, with the initial batch of 30 out of the total 160 China-made buses having already arrived in the capital city during the first week of the current month.
Despite the buses being on-site, the awaited construction of the two essential bus depots is now officially in motion, adding a layer of anticipation to Islamabad’s transportation landscape. The completion of these depots is expected to take approximately six months, coinciding with the arrival of the second batch of buses scheduled for the end of the next month.
According to a CDA official, the meticulous planning involves the establishment of one bus station at Tramari Chowk, requiring an investment of Rs 632.06 million. Simultaneously, another station, estimated at Rs 604.4 million, is slated for construction between sectors I-9 and H-9. This strategic placement of the bus depots aims to optimize accessibility and convenience for the residents of Islamabad.
As the city paves the way for this innovative transportation initiative, the CDA’s commitment to enhancing public mobility is evident. The infusion of modern, eco-friendly buses, coupled with the development of efficient bus depots, is set to redefine Islamabad’s public transportation system, offering a sustainable and convenient mode of travel for its residents.
