Punjab Matric Exam 2024: Schedule Stands Firm Despite Appeals for Delay

In a recent development, the Punjab Education Board has upheld its decision to proceed with the scheduled SSC (matric) exams, dismissing requests for a one-month postponement made by the All Pakistan Private Schools Association (APPSA).

The APPSA, through a letter addressed to the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab and the Secretary of Higher Education, had urged authorities to delay the matric exams. The association, led by Central President Mian Shabir Ahmad Hashmi, cited concerns about the adverse effects of smog and the extended winter holidays on students. Hashmi also pointed out the significant loss of study time during the prolonged winter break.

Despite these appeals, the provincial education board has affirmed that there will be no alterations to the exam schedule. The SSC examinations slated to begin on March 1, with the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore releasing a tentative date sheet.

Officials emphasize that any delay in the matric examinations could have a cascading impact on the timelines of higher-level exams.

This decision comes amidst a backdrop of concerns raised by the private schools association regarding the well-being and preparedness of students. However, the education board’s commitment to maintaining the existing schedule underscores the importance of adhering to academic timelines.

As the region prepares for the upcoming matric exams, students, parents, and educators are advised to stay updated on any further developments and to ensure that preparations remain on track for the March 1 commencement.
