The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has engaged the talents of renowned singer Ali Hamza to craft the anthem for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, adding another star to the league’s impressive lineup of anthem creators.
Ali Hamza, celebrated for his chart-topping track “Par Chana De” from Coke Studio Season 9, and a key member of the iconic band Noori, gained widespread recognition during his participation in that season. The 43-year-old singer, and brother of the influential Ali Noor, played a significant role in reshaping the landscape of pop music in the early 2000s, reaching new heights with the release of his album “Suno Ke Mein Hoon Jawan” in October 2003 as part of Noori.
While the prospect of Ali Hamza creating the PSL 9 anthem is on the table, the finalization of a contract between him and the PCB is still pending. The cricket board seems to be carefully considering its options, given the past successes with anthems created by notable artists like Fawad Khan, Naseebo Lal, Aima Baig, Young Stunners, Asim Azhar, Arif Lohar, Shae Gill, and others.
Notably, Ali Zafar, recognized for his contributions to previous PSL anthems, faced challenges in securing his involvement this year. Despite dedicating two months to the anthem’s creation and presenting multiple versions, a disagreement with a female artist associated with the PSL franchise resulted in the PCB informing Ali Zafar that he could not proceed with the anthem.
The anticipation for PSL 9 anthem remains high, with fans eager to experience the musical brilliance that has become synonymous with the league’s identity. As the league gears up for another thrilling season, the collaboration with Ali Hamza adds a new chapter to the PSL’s tradition of delivering captivating anthems that resonate with cricket enthusiasts nationwide.
