In a recent development, authorities in Punjab have announced new school timings for the month of February 2024, taking into consideration the improved weather conditions after the extreme cold wave and rains. The rescheduled timings, effective from February 1, 2024, aim to provide a conducive learning environment for students.
According to the official notification, regular classes at boys’ schools in Lahore and other cities will now run from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, while girls’ schools will have classes from 8:15 am to 2:15 pm. Additionally, on Fridays, boys’ schools will conclude classes at 12:15 pm, and girls’ schools will finish at 12 pm.
Authorities have also adjusted timings for schools conducting classes in double shifts to accommodate the changes seamlessly. The decision comes after a hiatus in December 2023 and January 2024, during which educational institutions were closed due to worsening smog conditions and the prevailing cold wave. Exams during this period were postponed for the safety of students and staff.
The modification in school timings aims to strike a balance between providing students with a regular academic routine and considering the climatic conditions. The decision-makers took into account the conclusion of the extreme cold wave and the occurrence of rains, ensuring that students can attend classes comfortably.
The revised school timings will be enforced starting February 1, 2024. This proactive measure reflects the authorities’ commitment to adapting to changing circumstances and prioritizing the well-being of students and educators.
Punjab’s decision to adjust school timings demonstrates a responsive approach to weather conditions, ensuring the safety and comfort of students during the transitional period. As educational institutions resume regular activities, the revised timings will contribute to a smoother academic experience for both students and educators in the region.
