Karachi Schools Closed Today (March 1) Due to Heavy Rain Forecast

In anticipation of the forecasted heavy rainfall, the Sindh government has proactively declared a holiday for all schools in the province this Friday. This decision is a response to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s warning of potential rain, windstorms, and isolated hailstorms from February 29 to March 2.

The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has issued an official notice, cancelling all evening classes in both private and public schools. The primary objective of this action is to safeguard students and staff from the expected harsh weather conditions.

Alongside the school shutdowns, the Sindh government has also proclaimed a rain emergency throughout the province. Karachi’s Mayor, Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui, has emphasized the need for preventive measures and declared that offices in Karachi will be operational for only half a day on Friday. This measure is intended to reduce potential hazards and disruptions for the citizens.

In a recent meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, a comprehensive rain emergency plan was activated to tackle the upcoming weather challenges. Local bodies, administrative units, and hospitals have been put on high alert to efficiently handle any emergencies that may occur.
