As the holy month of Ramadan approaches in 2024, the Education Department in Punjab is gearing up to implement special school timings to accommodate the religious observances during this significant period.
Traditionally, during Ramadan, both government and private schools in the region have adjusted their schedules. Last year, classes commenced at 7:30 am, running until 12 pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, schools operated from 7:30 am to 11:30 am. Double-shift schools also had morning classes beginning at 7:15 am and 12:30 pm, ending at 12:15 pm and 4:30 pm, respectively.
Recent updates on school timings in Punjab indicate adjustments following the conclusion of the extreme cold wave. Until April, regular classes in boys’ schools across Lahore and other cities in Punjab are scheduled from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, while girls’ schools will run classes from 8:15 am to 2:15 pm. Friday timings for boys’ schools are 8:30 am to 12:15 pm, and for girls’ schools, it is 8:30 am to 12:00 pm.
However, with Ramadan expected to commence in Pakistan on March 11 or 12, the Education Department is yet to finalize the school timings for this period. Traditionally, there is anticipation of schools opening at 7:30 am during Ramadan, and decisions are pending approval from authorities.
Stay tuned for updates on school schedules as the government announces its decision. The Education Department is committed to ensuring a smooth transition in school timings to respect the religious practices of students and faculty during the holy month of Ramadan in 2024.
