The Punjab Government has launched a new initiative, “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar”, with the ambitious goal of building 100,000 homes for the economically disadvantaged.
The project was unveiled in a meeting led by Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz. The objective is to construct more than 3,000 affordable homes in each district of Punjab. The Chief Minister underscored the need for cost-effectiveness and accessibility in this housing initiative.
Maryam Nawaz has given a six-week timeline for the creation of a prototype house. She has also mandated that both the initial deposit and the monthly payments should be kept to a minimum to ensure affordability.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s pledge to provide housing for the underprivileged, stating, “Our promise is to provide a roof for the underprivileged, and we are committed to fulfilling it.”
She emphasized the importance of quality and durability in the construction of these homes. Additionally, she highlighted the need to build these houses near urban areas to facilitate easy commuting for the residents.
