In preparation for the upcoming 23rd March parade and festivities, Islamabad Traffic Police has unveiled a comprehensive traffic plan to ensure smooth traffic flow in the capital city. The plan includes strategic measures to manage the influx of vehicles during the parade and full rehearsal day.
According to the details provided by a spokesperson for the traffic police, heavy traffic entry points will be temporarily closed from midnight to 2 pm on March 17, 19, 21, and 23. This temporary closure aims to facilitate the movement of traffic, especially from Lahore, by redirecting it through alternative routes such as GT Road via Rawalpindi Saddar Road to Peshawar GT Road and Motorway.
For commuters coming from Koral Chowk and Rawalpindi, designated entry points into Islamabad include Khanna Pul, Lehtrar Road, and Park Road. Additionally, smaller vehicles can opt for routes via Bhara Kahu and Murree from Kashmir Chowk to reach their destinations.
During the parade, Faizabad will be closed to all types of traffic, ensuring a clear path for the parade participants and enhancing overall security measures. The Pakistan Day parade, also known as the National Day Joint Services parade, is scheduled to take place on March 23 at Parade Ground Islamabad.
As the nation commemorates the historic Lahore Resolution passed on March 23, 1940, which holds significant cultural and patriotic importance, the day is marked as a public holiday across the country. The traffic plan aims to facilitate residents and visitors alike while maintaining order and safety during the celebrations in Islamabad.
