Vegetable Prices Drop in Ramadan – In a positive development, the prices of essential vegetables have witnessed a notable decline in Islamabad, just in time for the Ramadan season. Onion prices have plummeted by 66 rupees per kilogram, now priced at 264 rupees per kilogram, marking a substantial reduction. Similarly, tomato prices have also seen a significant drop of 55 rupees per kilogram, with the current rate standing at 105 rupees per kilogram. Additionally, potato prices have moderately decreased from 75 rupees to 64 rupees per kilogram.
The district administration of Islamabad has taken proactive measures to address this issue, including cracking down on hoarders and profiteers. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad emphasized the ongoing efforts of assistant commissioners and price control magistrates in conducting daily raids against hoarders to ensure fair pricing for consumers.
Furthermore, inspections are being conducted rigorously in vegetable markets, Ramadan bazaars, and shops to prevent artificial price inflation. This concerted effort aims to provide relief to consumers and curb unethical practices in the market during the Ramadan period.
Overall, these initiatives are part of a larger strategy to promote affordability and accessibility of essential food items, ensuring a smooth Ramadan experience for the residents of Islamabad.
