In a significant development, Punjab’s 48,000 schools have commenced the new academic year today. However, an unfortunate situation looms as students may not receive their essential free textbooks this year.
The Punjab Textbook Board, responsible for publishing and distributing free textbooks to schools, has not been able to provide this vital resource for the current academic year. This absence of free textbooks is compelling students to attend school without the necessary study materials, posing a significant challenge to their education.
Traditionally, before the announcement of school results, free textbooks are dispatched to school warehouses. However, this year, the delay or lack of availability has disrupted this essential process, leaving many students without access to fundamental learning resources.
Moreover, despite the start of the new academic year, schools have not received any new courses or updated curriculum materials, further impacting the quality of education being delivered.
This situation highlights the urgent need for authorities to address the issue promptly and ensure that students across Punjab receive the necessary textbooks and educational support to excel in their studies.
