In the wake of the government’s recent announcement of a surge in petroleum product prices, goods transporters have responded with a fare hike of 10%.
Chaudhry Aslam, Chairman of the Faisalabad Goods Carrier Association, confirmed the fare increase on Tuesday. He stated that the rise in petrol and diesel prices has made it unfeasible for transporters to maintain the previous fares. Consequently, a 10% fare increase has been implemented across all routes.
Aslam further detailed that the fare for a 16-foot-wide vehicle traveling from Faisalabad to Lahore has now escalated from Rs18,000 to Rs19,500. This adjustment reflects the broader impact of the petroleum price hike on the goods transportation sector.
