A nationwide anti-polio drive has been launched today, targeting over 24 million children across 91 districts. The campaign, which will run until May 3, aims to eradicate the polio virus, a significant health threat.
The campaign has been initiated in Islamabad, Punjab (10 districts), and Sindh (24 districts). It also covers 27 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 30 districts of Balochistan.
The National Health Coordinator has emphasized the seriousness of the polio virus and urged the public to cooperate fully with the polio teams.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the campaign has begun in 22 districts. A second phase will be launched in 5 districts from May 2 to 6, aiming to reach more than 4.423 million children.
In Balochistan, a seven-day campaign has started in 30 districts, targeting more than 2.395 million children. Similarly, in Sindh, a special campaign has been launched in 24 districts, with the goal of reaching 8 million children.
In Punjab, the campaign has commenced in 10 districts, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, and Okara. The polio drop administration campaign will continue in these districts.
