As the mercury rises in Punjab, the province’s Education Minister has unveiled the summer break schedule for schools and colleges. The vacation period, spanning over two months, mirrors the pattern from the previous year.
Typically, the summer break in the province commences in June and extends till August, coinciding with temperatures soaring above 40 degrees Celsius. Weather forecasts predict a rise to 39°C in May 2024, escalating beyond 40°C in June 2024.
The summer vacation is slated to begin from June 7, 2024, and conclude on August 19, 2024, as per the Education Minister. An official communication from the Education Department is expected in the forthcoming weeks.
In a prior warning, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) cautioned that the peak temperature could touch 49.5 degrees Celsius in June. Furthermore, August might witness temperatures reaching a high of 48.63 degrees Celsius.
