Nazimabad Town has declared a ban on the sale of cigarettes to individuals below 18 years of age. This initiative is part of a broader campaign to curb tobacco use within the town’s jurisdiction.
A training session was recently conducted, spearheaded by Zafar Solangi, a key figure from the Sindh Department dedicated to combating tobacco use. The session aimed to educate and raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco.
Syed Muhammad Muzaffar, the Chairman of Nazimabad Town, emphasized during the session that the enforcement of anti-tobacco laws is a collective responsibility. He urged everyone to contribute to this cause for the betterment of public health.
Following the approval of a resolution in the town council, a public awareness campaign has been launched. The campaign aims to make all public spaces within Nazimabad Town, including parks, public transport, offices, educational institutions, health centers, and other areas under the town’s administration, completely tobacco-free.
In addition to this, the sale of cigarettes, open cigarette packs, and other tobacco products will be strictly prohibited within fifty meters of educational institutions. This measure is specifically targeted at protecting individuals under the age of 18 from the harmful effects of tobacco.
