Sindh’s gas supply will be hitting the pause button for a full day. The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), the region’s primary gas supplier, has declared a day-long “gas holiday” impacting all sectors, from industries to power generation units, and even Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations.
The gas hiatus, scheduled to commence at 8am on Sunday, May 19, will last until 8am on Monday, May 20. The SSGC has attributed this unusual move to a shortfall in their gas supply, resulting in a drop in line pack and pressure levels.
The SSGC has issued a stern warning to all sectors, cautioning that any violation of the gas holiday will not be taken lightly. In fact, any industry found breaching this period will face a gas disconnection lasting a minimum of seven days. This bold step by the SSGC underscores the severity of the situation and the importance of adhering to the gas holiday.
