The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has officially announced the summer vacation schedule for schools across the province.
Summer Vacation Schedule in KPK:
- Primary Schools: Closed from June 1st.
- Middle, High, and Higher Secondary Schools: Closed from June 15th to August 31st.
- Upper Districts: Schools closed from July 1st to August 31st.
This announcement follows similar moves by other provinces. Recently, the Sindh Education Department declared summer holidays for all private and public sector schools and colleges, which will be observed from June 1st to July 31st.
The Punjab government had already announced early summer holidays starting May 25th until August 15th, in response to an intense heatwave.
The ongoing heatwave in Pakistan has significantly impacted school schedules. The climate change ministry reported that as of Thursday, about 26 districts across Pakistan were experiencing extreme temperatures, with the heatwave expected to continue until May 30th. Some cities in Sindh might see temperatures soar to 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit) on Friday, which has already caused delays in annual school exams.
