Karachi, set to become one of Pakistan’s safest cities with the launch of the “Safe City” project, announced by Sindh Home Minister Zia ul Hassan Lanjar. This ambitious initiative, valued at over Rs 3 billion, aims to significantly reduce crime and enhance public safety through advanced surveillance and policing measures.
The “Safe City” project will executed in two phases:
- Phase One: Expected to complete within 12 months, this phase will focus on establishing a robust surveillance infrastructure in Karachi.
- Phase Two: After successful implementation in Karachi, this phase will expand the project’s scope to other cities in Sindh.
Minister Lanjar emphasized that the project will play a crucial role in reducing the crime rate and eliminating criminal elements in Karachi. He also highlighted the significant improvements in the law and order situation, attributing these advancements to the dedicated efforts of the Sindh Police, supported by the Sindh Government.
The home minister commended the Sindh Police for their effective measures to improve security across the province. While acknowledging their achievements, he also noted that there is always room for further enhancement in maintaining public safety.
The “Safe City” project is not just about immediate results; it sets a precedent for other cities in Sindh to follow. The expansion plans in Phase Two signify a broader vision for a safer, more secure region, ensuring that the benefits of improved security felt beyond Karachi.
