Lahore High Court Extends Market Hours for Eid ul Adha 2024 Festivities

In a bid to accommodate traders and shoppers gearing up for Eidul Adha 2024, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has rolled out extended market timings in Lahore. The move, effective immediately, aims to facilitate the bustling preparations for the upcoming festival.

Under the new directive, markets in Lahore are now permitted to remain open until 12 midnight on weekdays, offering an extended window for business transactions and shopping endeavors. Additionally, on weekends, the market hours have been further stretched, allowing operations until 1 am to cater to the heightened festive activities and shopping rush.

This development comes as the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee convened today, June 7, to ascertain the sighting of the Zil Hajj crescent. This crucial sighting will determine the official date for Eidul Adha 2024 in Pakistan, marking a significant occasion in the Islamic calendar.

Chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, the meeting held in Karachi holds pivotal importance for the nation’s observance of Eidul Adha, traditionally celebrated on the 10th of Zil Hajj.

With the market timings extension, shoppers and traders alike can now plan their activities with greater flexibility, ensuring a smooth and vibrant Eid shopping experience in Lahore. The move reflects a proactive approach by authorities to support the local economy and enhance the overall festive spirit during this auspicious time.
