Heavy Monsoon Rains Predicted for Karachi Starting Early July

Weather experts have forecasted that southern Sindh, including Karachi, will see “more than usual” monsoon rains starting in early July. They predict that a medium-level pressure system will form over the Arabian Sea around June 30, leading to the first wave of monsoon showers in Karachi by the first week of July.

This year’s monsoon season is expected to begin between June 27 and July 4 across Pakistan. Experts highlight that Karachi and other southern Sindh areas could receive higher-than-average rainfall during this period. While this is a long-term forecast and may change, residents should prepare for wetter conditions than usual.

In a recent update, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) indicated that most plain regions of Pakistan would continue to experience very hot and dry weather during the daytime. However, there is a chance of gusty winds and isolated rain-thunderstorms in northeast Punjab, Islamabad, the Potohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, especially in the evening or at night.

For Karachi, the PMD noted that while hot and humid weather will persist over the next 24 hours, there might be a drizzle in some areas late Wednesday night. As the city braces for the upcoming monsoon, residents should stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to handle the expected heavy rains.

Overall, with the anticipated arrival of more frequent monsoon rains, Karachi and surrounding areas in southern Sindh should prepare for a wetter-than-usual season starting in early July.
