The Punjab government has introduced a new policy for government schools, granting students and teachers a weekly break of two days. This means that schools will now be closed not only on weekends but also on weekdays.
Rana Sanaullah Khan, the Education Minister of Punjab, revealed this decision, highlighting that the additional weekday break will be specifically allocated for teacher training sessions. This initiative aims to ease the workload on teachers within the government school system.
Under the revised schedule, teaching and learning activities will be conducted from Monday through Friday across all government schools in Punjab. Furthermore, school hours are expected to be extended to accommodate the adjusted timetable. The weekday closure will primarily serve as a dedicated period for enhancing the professional skills and development of teachers.
This move is part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance the quality of education in Punjab. By prioritizing teacher training, officials believe that educators will be better equipped to deliver effective lessons and support students more comprehensively.
