In anticipation of Muharram-ul-Haram, Islamabad Police has meticulously devised a robust security blueprint aimed at ensuring a peaceful observance of the sacred month. Chaired by IG Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, a high-level meeting convened today to finalize the comprehensive plan.
From the 1st of Muharram to the 2nd of Rabi-ul-Awwal, Islamabad is set to host 181 processions and 965 majalis (gatherings) under the watchful eye of over 16,000 dedicated police personnel. This substantial deployment is bolstered by cutting-edge surveillance through Safe City cameras and strategic use of armored vehicles poised to handle any potential emergencies.
To fortify security measures, stringent checks will be enforced at all entry and exit points of the city. Roads and streets along procession routes will be secured with barbed wire, and meticulous inspections conducted by disposal squads prior to each event.
Drone cameras will provide aerial surveillance of all gatherings and processions, ensuring comprehensive monitoring and recording. Attendees, both local and non-local, will undergo thorough screenings before gaining access, with a complete ban on vehicles and motorcycles within the procession routes.
Advanced security equipment, including metal detectors and walk-through gates, will be stationed at entrances and exits to ensure the safety of all participants. Prior to finalizing the plan, Islamabad Police engaged in consultative sessions with scholars from various schools of thought, members of peace committees, and intellectuals, underscoring their commitment to fostering a secure and harmonious environment during Muharram-ul-Haram 2024.
This proactive approach by Islamabad Police reflects their dedication to safeguarding public gatherings and upholding peace during this solemn period, emphasizing community engagement and meticulous planning in their efforts.
