New Withholding Tax on Suzuki Alto

Previously, the Punjab Excise collected a fixed amount of Rs 10,000 from filers and Rs 30,000 from non-filers as withholding tax on vehicles with an engine capacity up to 850cc. However, in the 2024-25 budget, the government has revised the withholding tax to be assessed based on the invoice price. Starting from July 2024, the government will collect 0.5% of the vehicle’s value from filers and 1.5% from non-filers.

Here are the new withholding tax amounts for Suzuki Alto:

  • Alto VX:
  • Filers: Rs 11,655
  • Non-filers: Rs 34,965
  • Alto VXR:
  • Filers: Rs 13,535
  • Non-filers: Rs 40,605
  • Alto VXR-AGS:
  • Filers: Rs 14,470
  • Non-filers: Rs 43,410
  • Alto VXL-AGS:
  • Filers: Rs 15,225
  • Non-filers: Rs 45,675

This change in withholding tax reflects the government’s aim to streamline tax collection and ensure that it is proportional to the vehicle’s value. For Suzuki Alto owners and potential buyers, understanding these new tax implications is crucial for informed purchasing decisions.
