Provincial Government Decides to Suspend Mobile Services on 9th and 10th of Muharram

The provincial government has decided to shut down mobile services on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. This decision is crucial to ensure security during the Ashura processions. To guarantee foolproof security on these two days, mobile phone signals will be suspended.

The suspension is aimed at preventing any untoward incidents during the processions and special gatherings held across Pakistan, including Peshawar, in memory of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain.

Additionally, the federal government has announced public holidays on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, corresponding to 16th and 17th July, in observance of Ashura 2024. The government has issued an official notification regarding these holidays.

In a meeting held in Quetta, members of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Meteorological Department, SUPARCO, and the Ministry of Science and Technology participated. Provincial and district moon sighting committees also conducted meetings at their respective headquarters.

This coordinated effort aims to ensure a peaceful and secure environment during the significant religious observance of Ashura.
