Weather Forecast: Karachi Gripped by Intense Heat on Ashura Day

In Karachi, the intense heat and humidity continue to increase on Ashura day.

Meteorologists explain that the low air pressure over the northern Arabian Sea has halted sea breezes, causing warm and humid winds from the northeast to sweep through Karachi. This has pushed the heat index to over 46 degrees Celsius.

In coastal areas, the heat index has soared past 50 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department forecasts that Karachi will remain hot and humid for the next 24 hours. Thunderstorms and rain are expected in the outskirts of the city.

Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 32 degrees Celsius, with a maximum expected between 39 and 41 degrees Celsius. The heat and humidity are due to stalled sea breezes and light winds from the northwest carrying 79% humidity.

Monsoon winds are entering Sindh continuously, bringing rain to Tharparkar, Umerkot, and Badin from today until July 20. Thatta, Sujawal, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Matiari, Qambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, and Shaheed Benazirabad may also experience moderate to heavy rainfall during this period.
