The Sindh government has announced an extension in summer vacations for public and private colleges in the province due to the ongoing heatwave and expected monsoon rains. The decision was made to ensure the safety and well-being of students as temperatures continue to soar in Karachi and other parts of Sindh.
With the province bracing for another spell of hot and humid weather starting Wednesday, a weather expert has forecast a possible rain system developing in the Bay of Bengal, which may impact Sindh between July 24 and 28. If the system hits India’s Gujarat, Karachi may also receive showers, bringing relief from the heat.
The extended summer vacations will last till August 14, allowing students to enjoy a longer break. However, co-curricular activities related to the 78th Independence Day celebrations on August 14 will continue as planned. The government’s decision aims to strike a balance between academic activities and student safety during extreme weather conditions.
