Karachi Schools Reopen After Summer Break

After an extended summer vacation, schools in Karachi and across Sindh have reopened today, marking the start of the new academic year. The Sindh Education Department confirmed that both public and private schools have resumed regular classes as of August 15, 2024.

Sindh Education Minister’s Statement

Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah has called on students to focus on their studies with greater dedication this year. He encouraged teachers to fulfill their responsibilities with honesty and integrity, noting that recent merit-based teacher recruitment has positively impacted the province’s educational system.

Introduction of Reforms

Minister Sardar Shah highlighted that, for the first time in Pakistan, Sindh has introduced a teacher licensing policy and other educational reforms. He assured that the process of improving the education system in the province will continue.

Background

Initially, schools in Sindh were scheduled to reopen on August 1, 2024. However, due to intense heat and the possibility of heavy rains, the Sindh Education Department extended the summer break until August 14, 2024. Today marks the first day back after this extended holiday, with schools across the province returning to normal academic routines.
