Schools across Punjab resumed classes today following the summer vacation, with extended working hours for teachers. The Punjab Education Department issued a notification outlining the new schedule.
Government schools will operate five days a week, from Monday to Friday, giving students a break on Saturdays and Sundays. According to the notification, schools will be open from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM from Monday to Thursday. Schools that have double shifts will follow a different timetable, with the first shift starting at 8:00 AM and ending at 12:30 PM, and the second shift running from 1:00 PM until the evening.
On Fridays, schools will open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Male teachers are required to stay at school until 3:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, while female teachers will be at school until 2:30 PM. On Saturdays, teachers will work from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The adjustment in school hours aims to enhance the learning environment and ensure effective teaching.
