Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that a new Meal Program will launch in government schools across Punjab next month. This initiative will begin in three districts of South Punjab: DG Khan, Muzaffargarh, and Rajanpur. In the first phase, students in these areas will receive milk and meals to address their nutritional needs.
The decision comes after reports indicated that children in these districts were found to be mentally and physically weak. This program aims to improve their overall health and well-being. Following this initial phase, the Meal Program will be expanded to additional districts across the province.
Minister Hayat also mentioned that a final decision will soon be made regarding selecting a reputable company to oversee and implement the milk program. This step is crucial for ensuring that the program runs smoothly and effectively meets the needs of students.
The introduction of this Meal Program reflects a commitment to enhancing the quality of education and health for children in Punjab’s government schools. With this initiative, the government aims to provide essential nutritional support and improve students’ performance and health in the long term.
