Cyclone Asna, which has been shifting its path from Karachi, continues to impact the city with strong winds and intermittent rain. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reports that Cyclone Asna has moved further westward over the northeast Arabian Sea off the Sindh coast.
As of the latest update, the cyclone is positioned around Latitude 23.6 N and Longitude 65.7 E, approximately 200 km southwest of Karachi, 220 km south-southeast of Ormara, and 380 km southeast of Gwadar. The system is expected to continue tracking west-southwest.
The cyclone’s influence is causing rain-thunder showers, with potential heavy falls and squally winds ranging from 60-70 km/hour, gusting up to 80 km/hour, particularly in Karachi division, including Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Hyderabad, and other districts across Sindh. The adverse weather conditions are also expected to affect the Hub, Lasbella, Awaran, Keach, and Gwadar districts of Balochistan through tomorrow night. The PMD warns that heavy rains might lead to water logging in low-lying areas along the Makran coast.
Sea conditions are forecasted to be rough to very rough, with squally winds reaching 60-70 km/hour and gusts up to 80 km/hour. Fishermen in Sindh are advised to stay ashore today, while those in Balochistan should avoid venturing into the sea until tomorrow.
