In response to recent fuel price reductions, Pakistan Railways has announced a 10% decrease in fares for all passenger trains, effective from September 23. This fare reduction will be applicable to both economy and AC classes, making train travel more affordable for passengers nationwide.
A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways highlighted that this move aims to provide relief to passengers amid the ongoing changes in fuel prices. “Lowering fares will make train travel more accessible and affordable for all citizens, and we hope this initiative will benefit our passengers,” the spokesperson said.
This decision comes after significant decreases in petrol and diesel prices over the past one and a half months. Public demand for reductions in public transport fares has been growing, especially following similar fare cuts across Punjab’s transport sector.
With hopes high, citizens from other parts of the country are calling for further reductions in both inter-city and intra-city transport fares in response to the lower fuel costs.
