Housing Ministry Denies Rumors of 45% Increase in Federal Employees House Rent

The Ministry of Housing and Works has officially dismissed reports regarding a 45% increase in federal employees house rent. In a statement released on Monday, the ministry clarified that no such office memorandum had been issued, countering claims published in a section of the media.

According to the ministry’s spokesperson, the circulating document about the alleged house rent increase for federal employees is entirely false. The rumors originated from a fictitious office memorandum making rounds on social media. The ministry stressed that these claims of a rent bump for government employees are misleading.

The spokesperson further explained that the Estate Office, under the Ministry of Housing and Works, is currently conducting a survey to evaluate market rent rates in key cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta. However, this survey is still in progress, and no final decisions have been made regarding any adjustment to house rent.

Federal employees are advised to disregard unofficial sources of information, and any future updates on rent ceilings will be formally communicated by the Ministry of Housing and Works through authorized channels.
