In 2009, her father, Ghaffar Longove, went missing outside a hospital in Karachi. At the time, Mahrang was still a young student, and this life-changing event pushed her into activism. As a child, she even burned her schoolbooks in protest outside the Quetta Press Club, demanding the return of her father, whose body tragically found in 2011.
