The Punjab Education Department has officially rolled out the new timings for schools across the province. The changes kick in on October 15 and stay in place until March 31, 2025. The announcement came out of Lahore, where officials outlined how the new schedule will help students and staff better manage the colder months.
According to the notification, from Monday to Thursday, schools will start a bit later at 8:45 AM and wrap up by 2:45 PM, giving everyone a little extra time in the morning. The timings are slightly different on Fridays, with the schools closing early at 12:45 PM, letting students and teachers start their weekend sooner. The adjustment comes as part of the government’s effort to make sure that the school routine is suitable for the winter weather.
But it’s not just about the students, as the notification also talks about teachers’ schedules. While students get to leave earlier, teachers are expected to stay from 8:30 AM till 3:00 PM on regular weekdays. For weekends, students enjoy a full break on Saturday and Sunday, but teachers will still need to report for duty on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It’s not a long shift, but it’s there to ensure everything is running smoothly.
